Short Brothers Plc Cookie Policy
Last revision on June 24, 2020

Shorts Brothers PLC and all its business segments, divisions and subsidiaries (“Shorts”, “we” or “our”), use cookies to record your internet settings and browsing preferences, which allows us to optimise the design of our websites and improve your online experience.  We may also use third parties cookies for third party advertising, social plugins or analyzing traffic on our websites.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are placed on your device when you visit a website.  They allow the website to remember certain pieces of information about you, like your preferences (e.g. language or location) and your browsing behavior (e.g. the webpages you visit). This information allows the website to recognize your device and remember your preferences when you return to the website from the same device and web browser. It is also used for web analytics.

Types of cookies

We divide cookies into four categories, depending on their function and intended purpose: necessary cookies, statistics cookies, preferences cookies, and marketing cookies.

Necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for our websites to function. Without these cookies, you would not be able to navigate our websites or operate their basic functions.

 Statistics cookies

These cookies collect information about how you use our websites.  We use Google Analytics to collect, analyse, measure, and report data from these cookies to understand our web traffic and page views in order to improve the performance of our websites and your user experience.   For example, the cookies record which browser and operating system you used, which parts of the websites you visited, your number of visits, and the average duration of your visits.  They do not collect information that would allow us to identify you. The collected information is aggregated and, therefore, remains anonymous.

Preferences cookies

These cookies store information that you have already entered, such as your language selection and your location, in order for your experience to feel more personalized when you return to our websites.  These cookies collect anonymous information and cannot track your movements on other websites.

Marketing cookies

These cookies register your activity on our websites.  To show you relevant personalized advertising on other sites such as Google and Bing, we use Google AdWords. We may allow a limited number of trusted third party advertising partners to install cookies to build a profile of your interests based on information about you, such as your page views on our website, your information requests or purchases on our websites.  These cookies are also used to limit the display frequency of advertisements and to measure and control the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.

Our websites may include third-party advertising, links to other websites and social plugins.  Social plugins are buttons that let you share your experiences on our websites with other people on social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube). When you share your experiences through social plugins, social media platforms install their own cookies on your device.

These cookies do not store information about you but they uniquely identify your browser and device.  Together with other information about you collected by our advertising partners or social media companies, your browser and device information could be used by third parties to identify you.

How to block cookies

By using our websites without blocking cookies, you agree to our use of cookies. You can block all cookies at any time by adjusting the settings in your browser but, if you choose to block all cookies, then you may not be able to access all of our websites or use all of their functions.

Most browsers are pre-set to automatically accept cookies. The “Help” / “Options” / “Settings” features on most browsers will tell you how to delete existing cookies or how to block cookies altogether. If you use several devices or browsers, you will have to block cookies on each of them.

You can opt out of our use of Google Analytics or Google AdWords by visiting the supplier’s opt-out page.
